85 Vehicles Involved, 27 Injuries in Wisconsin Pile-Up
27 injuries have been reported following the massive pile-up crash in Wisconsin on Friday that blocked the interstate for hours.
The crash happened on Friday, January 27th in Rock County Wisconsin, but the number of people who were reported as injured and the number of vehicles involved continued to increase throughout the weekend, which approximately 85 vehicles, including semi trucks and passenger cars were involved. Only one fatality has been reported, which police say was unrelated to the pile-up.
“This incident occurred during a severe winter weather event with snow, ice and whiteout conditions believed to be a factor in the initial crash,” the Wisconsin State Patrol said.
Interstate 39/90 Blocked and Closed
Interstate 39/90 was blocked until around 9:45 p.m. on Friday evening. Wisconsin State Patrol says that snow, ice, and whiteout conditions were factors in the wreck. Both directions of the interstate were closed and heavy traffic delays were reported in the area. Motorists were advised to avoid the area while first responders assisted drivers, investigated the crash and worked to clear the roadway.
