New FMCSA Complaint System Targets Unsafe Carriers and Brokers

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has rolled out the first phase of updates to the National Consumer Complaint Database (NCCDB), the main online system used to report violations of federal trucking regulations.

The NCCDB is where commercial drivers, carriers, and the public can file complaints about safety concerns, fraud, and household goods movers. With this modernization, FMCSA says users will notice easier navigation, quicker response times, and expanded categories. For the first time, drivers and carriers can now submit complaints against property brokers through the system.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy called the upgrade “a win for drivers, carriers, and the driving public,” noting that the improvements should make filing reports more straightforward while helping the agency take unsafe operators off the road.

This launch is part of the Department of Transportation’s “Pro-Trucker Package,” announced in June, which focuses on updating tools and improving working conditions for professional drivers. FMCSA confirmed that additional phases are in the works, including new features, performance upgrades, and even a new name for the database.

The updated system is already live at FMCSA’s NCCDB portal.
