It is primarily issued to transportation companies and utilities operating within the state, such as trucking companies, limousine services, and energy providers.

Do I Need a PA PUC Number?

If you operate a motor carrier (e.g., trucks, taxis, limousines, buses) within Pennsylvania, you are required to have a PUC Number. Utility providers (electric, gas, water, telecommunications) that operate within Pennsylvania are also regulated by the PA PUC and must have a PUC Number.
